Workshop Description

This intermediate./adv. workshop is taking you a step beyond rotoscoping animation technical set-up. It is specialized on learning and discussing drawing techniques for rotoscope frame-by-frame animation. You will explore best brushes to use for illustration, how to draw figure In motion, line-work for fast vs slow movement, and Photoshop tricks for smooth transitions. We’ll focus on animation drawing logic and Photoshop tools to take your work and illustration style to the next level.

Materials:
1. Wacom tablet and stylus, Software: Adobe Photoshop


Instructor 

Iveta Karpathyova, B.Des., M.Des., is an animator and illustrator based in San Francisco (CA) with clients including Google, The NY Times, ESPN and L’Orèal. She is an instructor at UC Berkeley Extension where she created the course on Animation Design & Video Production. Iveta has taught her rotoscoping workshops at Google and TAIS, and was the principal animator for films Phases of Dance (2017) and Prey (2019), awarded at 2020 Canadian Screen Awards, HotDocs and International Festival of Animated Dance.
