TAIS Showcase JURY
Each year TAIS invites a jury to select & award prizes for Best in Showcase and Best Anijam (Madi Piller Award). The winner of the Madi Piller Award receives a 3 week residency with equipment support and a $500.00CAD Artist Fee, and the work is screened in the following year’s Showcase.
This year TAIS invited Constant Yen, Dylan Glynn, and Ivyy Chen.
Contstant Yen
Constant Yen is a Toronto-based artist & animator who likes to draw and make things with their hands. Their practice involves creating spontaneous and playful experimental work. Constant’s straight-ahead approach combines analog and digital mediums to create various textures across their moving-image works to achieve a raw, chaotic, and nostalgic appeal. Their work has been screened in film festivals and displayed in galleries across North America.
Dylan Glynn
Ivyy Chen
Originally from Taiwan, Ivyy Chen is an Animation filmmaker and Illustrator living in London, UK. Inspired by her own experiences, she explores the intricate tapestry of human emotions through her unique use of emotive colours and everyday objects, particularly Chairs. Her self-initiated film isle of Chair has been selected by several international festivals including TAIS Showcase and won the Animasian Award at Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival 2020. Her latest animated documentary Learning Disabilities in Primary Care won the Best Animated Documentaries in London International Animation Festival 2022.
