Toronto Animated Image Society is thrilled to announce the award winners from the 12th Annual TAIS Animation Showcase for the TAIS Showcase Jury Awards – Grand Prize and Best Anijam, and the Audience Awards for Best Short Film and Best Anijam.

ON SATURDAY, JULY 28th, TAIS presented the 12th annual TAIS Animation Showcase and Anijam competition (10-second long micro animations).
 
From the programme featuring 18 short animated film finalists and 12 Anijam entries, TAIS Guest Jury comprised of Amy Lockhart, Paloma Dawkins, and Rory Waudby-Tolley selected the winners for the Jury Awards for 2018.  The audience who gathered for the screening (our biggest ever) also selected the winners for two Audience Awards

The Missing Pig 
Cecilia Corzo

A mysterious pig disappearance brings chaos to a small town.

Cecilia Corzo is a London raised animator studying animation at the Royal College of Art. Her films are colourful and often reminiscent of her Cuban heritage.

“We love this silly and poignant film with its ingenious scene transitions and abstracted dialogue.”

Jeron Braxton is a creative director based in Indiana. He primarily utilizes animation, music production, and graphic design to realize his imagination.

The Curious Tale of Aunt Binks 
Gentle Giants

A young girl named Abby travels to visit her dear Aunt Binks, but finds herself in a peculiar situation when her Aunt Binks is nothing like she expected.

Gentle Giants is made up of eleven Sheridan College animation students: Andrew Komer, Austin Faber, Darcy Morgan, Esther Cheung, Evan Perusse, Jenna Feltham, Joseph Bertrand, Niko Powell, Turcin Soylu, Tyler Nardone, and Vivian Zhou. They all come from diverse backgrounds but share the same passion for storytelling and animation.
