This workshop will demonstrate puppet animation fundamentals, and is a great “How To” intro for anyone new to independent stop motion animation. Participants will learn how to create and control motion using the equipment available at TAIS studio (a mixture of consumer-level products and DIY rigs and other techniques).
With Brett participants will learn what to aim for in the animation setup (from home, TAIS or a studio). Includes:
– a breakdown of various types of sets and setups & what to look for with your camera, and a quick look at free software out there.
– understanding of puppet types and what you should expect from your puppet
– animating basics, such as x-sheet, time & space, posing, Arcs, Stopping, Acceleration and deceleration, anticipation, cycles, acting.
Finishing with Q&A, the class will have the opportunity to try animating at various studio stations and ask more questions along their way.
