\”In Dubitably\”
Brett Long\’s research/production new work Is a short experimental \”mood piece\” set in space. Presented as an installation, the film is an immersive 360 degree observational animation of outer space/inner space/ virtual space…that allows the audience to intimately witness other life forms and planets in a first-of-its-kind experience. Produced at TAIS through the Petman Foundation artist in Residence.
DIMENSIONS: \”The Fungi Affair\”
The new work by Madi Piller is the result of direct printing on 35mm film utilizing diverse mushroom spore prints as the initial source of her experimentations. Madi confronts the digital world as her work evolves into the creation of an idyllic space in virtual reality were mushrooms are disproportionately tall. The viewer enters the virtual world to perceive and discover events that are triggered by abstract elements in the landscape through the use of an Oculus Rift headset. Imagery from the 35mm film prints are extracted to accompany the exhibition, adding a spatial interpolation to her explorations, reflecting a mysterious dimension to the work. Produced with the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts.
