Description:
The National Film Board of Canada’s most famous animator, Norman McLaren, is remembered as one of the most inventive animators who ever lived McLaren didn’t try to be different… he truly was different! He didn’t create films for the sake of shock value or to stir discourse among art and film critics. He had a personal vision and an intellectual, experimental curiosity that was artfully carried from the simplest to the most sophisticated of film technologies. This retrospective will bring first-hand insights to McLaren’s most notable films. These include BEGONE DULL CARE, PAS DE DEUX, A CHAIRY TALE, LE MERLE and the Oscar winning NEIGHBOURS. TAAFI Honoree and fellow NFB animator Kaj Pindal was McLaren’s assistant. Kaj will provide unique insights about McLaren and his most important films. Don’t miss the historical context and the subtle human elements behind these pivotal experimental films!
