Blender is an entirely free and open source alternative to commercial 3d creation suites. It combines a powerful collection of tools for artists to bring their visions to life. Just like other 3d applications, Blender has a bit of a learning curve an takes time and practice to get to know all of its capabilities. This workshop is designed to equip participants with enough know-how to get started with Blender and enable them to use other resources for further learning. Focusing on basic workflows techniques, this course will provide a foundation for beginners to take a first step into the world of 3d animation. The goal is to get participants encouraged and up to speed in order to start creating their own projects as quickly as possible. The course will teach:
- Common terminologies and principles
- The Blender interface and how to navigate it
- Creating, transforming and editing 3D objects
- Applying image textures to objects
- Set keyframes for animation
- Lighting and rendering a scene
- Tips and resources for further learning
What is needed: Working knowledge of how to use and navigate a computer.
Optional: Bring your own computer (Windows, OSX, Linux) with a 3 button (wheel) mouse. TAIS will have a limited number of computers available for participants, available first-come first-serve. For participants bringing their own machines, please check hardware requirements and (if your computer meets these requirements) download and install Blender before coming to the workshop.
