TAIS\’ July 2014: \”Mix Syrup\” Directed by Maya Yonesho

The results of TAIS’ Commissioning Project are in! After an intensive workshop with visiting artist from Japan, Maya Yonesho, we are proud to feature it online. The final film features emerging artists Althea Balmes, Gustavo Cerquera Benjumea, Alisi Telengut, Sarah Crawley, Lisseloth Torres and a group of ten students. \”Mix Syrup\” is a short abstract experimental film, synchronized to music by Lido Pimienta, a local Toronto visual artist and musician, sound and landscape imagery based on landmarks of Toronto under Maya’s guidance at the TAIS Studio.
 
Maya Yonesho BIO:Maya Yonesho was born in 1965 Hyogo, Japan. After working as an art teacher at a junior high school for several years, she returned to college to study Japanese painting and conceptual & media art at Kyoto City University of Arts and also worked for a children’s TV program as a clay animator. After receiving her MA of fine art (1998), she began making independent films and conducting various animation workshops.She has been a lecturer at several Art Universities since 2000.
