Production Equipment
TAIS Members have access to a range of specialized animation production equipment and accessories that range from vintage analog to digital and VFX.
This equipment is available for artists engaged in the creation of independent animated work. Certain pieces from our equipment catalogue, like our Steenbeck ST1600, is only available for use in our studios. But many pieces of equipment are available for offsite rentals and can be booked by Studio Members below!
You must be a TAIS Studio Member to rent offsite equipment.
Studio Members can request equipment rentals by logging in to AMS.

- TAIS offers rates for Daily/Weekly/Bi-Weekly/Monthly/6 Month periods.
- Bookings requests in excess of 3 months must be reviewed by TAIS Studio Production Committee
- A 50% deposit is required for all bookings.
- You must be a current Studio Member to book a rental.
- We recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance.
- All equipment and software is subject to availability.
acknowledging use
The use of the Toronto Animated Image Society’s equipment and studios constitutes a form of production assistance to the animator, as any production using TAIS resources is receiving subsidized access from TAIS as a publicly funded organization. As such, TAIS must be credited in the titles and/or credits, and named as “Production Centre” or “Production Partner” in all media acknowledgments and social media posts.
Please include the TAIS logo in your acknowledgements as shown in the Acknowledgement Guide. Where a logo is not appropriate, in it’s place community partners and TAIS-assisted animators may use text recognition such as “Produced with the support of the Toronto Animated Image Society” and link to our website at www.tais.ca
