BIO:
Rowan is a Toronto based multimedia artist with a focus on animation. During his studies at Seneca College, he received a grant from TIFF’s Next Wave program to create a hybrid live action/animation short film. He has since gone on to work in the industry, in many different roles. His work is informed by his lived experience as a trans person who has moved around a lot. Rowan is most interested in capturing candid and “imperfect” moments in life. He is inspired by dreams, drag, nature, robots, friendship, and cats.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
WORLDS’ END will explore the loss of social spaces, online and in real life. It takes place within the final moments of a video game server before it is shut down. Utilizing a mix of real footage of a 1990s MMO, traditional animation, paper cutouts, and more, the film will provide a mirror to our own communities and selves as we all cope with a changing world.
