17th Annual TAIS Animation Showcase Poster Reveal!

TAIS is thrilled to present:

The 17th Annual TAIS Animation Showcase poster

created by Malik McKoy!

Each year TAIS commissions an artist to create the TAIS Showcase poster based on the Anijam Theme. This year’s poster incorporates the theme: Electric Lunch

BIO: Malik McKoy is a multimedia artist based in Ajax, Ontario. McKoy graduated from OCAD University with a BFA from the Drawing and Painting program. McKoy has also graduated from Seneca’s Game Art and Animation program. As a result, McKoy’s practice consists of painting and producing computer-generated 3D visuals. Straddling the line between analog and digital, McKoy attempts to create a visual world that lives across both practices . The subject matter of the work is a reflection of the banal qualities of where he is currently based, translated through a vibrant and playful lens.

Earlier this year, McKoy exhibited at Susan Hobbs Gallery in collaboration with Oliver Husain in their show titled “lenticoolers”. In 2022, McKoy completed a solo residency at the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa, as part of the RBC Emerging Artist Program. In the past year, McKoy also had public artworks installed across the GTA including Pickering and Vaughan. McKoy was part of The Power Plant’s 2022-2023 RBC Emerging Artist Network. Starting Fall 2023, McKoy is currently pursuing a MFA degree at Concordia University.
