Workshop Description

During this three hour workshop, Lori will share the details of her approach to different styles of animated documentaries (educational, interview based, personal, experimental, etc.). She will broadly explain how to create that kind of animation, from the very first idea to the final result, through editorial intention, research, narration, visuals and more. At the end of the workshop, Lori hopes that participants will feel more equipped and confident to make or polish their own animated documentaries.

Lori Malépart-Traversy is an animation film director from Montreal. She studied in visual arts and film animation at Concordia University. Lately, the animated documentary has been her favorite medium to communicate her creative ideas and the messages she wants to transmit. Lori’s graduation film “The Clitoris” (2016) has been an international success in the festivals circuit and online. She is now working on her new animated documentary on the theme of female masturbation at the National Film Board of Canada. The project, titled “Caresses Magiques”, is a series of 5 shorts compiling women experiences and an educational part on the history of masturbation.
