Synopsis: “With this proposal I seek to create a 1 minute short film that gives the viewer a joyous sense of liberation while maintaining the tension of a constructed freedom through the flattened materiality of cut-out printed illustrations. ‘L’oiseau sur la branche’ follows a mutable, shape-changing bird as it wanders in search of the connections and landscapes our minds so desperately desire during lockdown. The form of the bird will communicate the tension of desiring connection and liberation with the weariness of one who has not ventured far from the nest for far too long. The bird aimlessly flits and flutters in pursuit of kinship and freshness in a landscape of unfamiliar potential.”
