ANIMATION ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Deadline for 2015/2016 Residency: Friday July 31, 2015
After a successful first year with Artist-in-Residence Brett Long, The Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) seeks applications for Year Two of its new Research and Production Animation Residency supported by The Petman Foundation.
This residency will see ONE selected Canadian artist and ONE selected International artist engage in self-directed work towards the completion of a new independent animated film or video, supported by a combination of a monetary funding and in-kind studio space and resources at the TAIS Production Centre. The Residency for Canadian Artists will take place from October 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. The goal for this four-month Canadian Artist Residency is to emerge with a finished work. The selected Canadian artist will be awarded with $9000, comprised of $3000 in-kind towards 4-months of work studio space and equipment at the TAIS Production Centre (including upgrade to Studio membership if needed) and $6,000 cash funding for the project.
The Residency for International Artists will take place from November 1 to November 30, 2015. The goal for this one-month International Artist Residency is to experiment with the resources at the TAIS Production Centre to advance or complete a work. The selected International artist will be awarded with $3500, comprised of $1500 in-kind towards 1-month of work studio space and equipment at the TAIS Production Centre (including upgrade to Studio membership if needed) and $2000 cash funding for the project.

TAIS ANIMATION SHOWCASE
This annual summer screening curated by TAIS presents a diverse showcase of current Canadian and International independent animation in an intimate environment comprised of animation filmmakers and fans, and includes our popular annual ‘Anijam’ – a program of very short animations created around a theme (past themes have included monsters, robots, bunnies and more!).
