The Toronto Animated Image Society, Art for Commuters and Onestop Media Group are seeking proposals for a commissioned project that brings together animation and public spaces. Each successful applicant will produce a one minute animation exploring the urban landscape. The intention is for each artist to complete the shooting of their project in a 24-hour period at a site-specific location of their choosing (within the City of Toronto). A selection of the commissioned projects will be screened by Art for Commuters once every 10 minutes for a week on the Onestop Network of 270 subway platform screens to an audience of over 1.3 million daily commuters.
Projects will be completed between July and September 2010. TAIS will offer support for the development and production process of the projects. Selected participants will be expected to attend a workshop prior to receiving access to equipment.
Possible animation techniques for this project include Pixilation & stop motion, Rotoscoping, on-site paint on glass or other techniques of your choosing. Projects are free to be completed in the studio post shooting.
Selected artists will receive:
· TAIS Full Studio Membership including equipment access
· $500 honorarium
· $200 materials fee
· participation and support from various community arts
organizations across Toronto (dependent on location
selected/needs of project)
Each application must include:
· Project description 200 to 300 words
· CV, resume, or brief bio
· Samples of recent work (i.e., CD or DVD for time-based
artists; maximum of 10 images on CD for visual artists)
