Workshop Description

This hands-on masterclass explores Rotoscoping, an animation technique involving tracing frame-by-frame from pre-recorded film or video (eg. as seen in “Take On Me” by A-ha, or Disney’s The Little Mermaid where live action is used as a reference). You will be provided with a dance footage to create an animation that is synchronized with music, and practice drawing techniques to achieve smooth movement and transitions.
Each class will reveal the process of creating rotoscope animations on 1. Computer via drawing tablet and stylus using Photoshop timeline. 2. Light Pad/ Table via the traditional media and After Effects, and 3. iPad via Apple Pencil using RoughAnimator.  Master the tools, tricks and methodologies of this practical animation technique that draws from reality of live-action and use it with confidence in your work moving forward.

2. Light pad or light table, peg bars, hold puncher, scanner or camera and camera stand, Software: Adobe After Effects
