Workshop Description

This hands-on workshop explores Rotoscoping, an animation technique involving tracing frame-by-frame from pre-recorded film or video (eg. as seen in “Take On Me” by A-ha, or Disney’s The Little Mermaid where live action is used as a reference). You will be provided with a dance footage to create an animation that is synchronized with music, and practice drawing techniques to achieve smooth movement and transitions. The participants will also learn After Effects pre & post production tools of creating a rotoscope animation, so they use this technique in their work moving forward.
