This introductory workshop will focus on how to make paper stop motion puppets, and will give participants a chance to try out classic top-down cutout animation, silhouette, and collage techniques. By the end of the workshop everyone will get the opportunity to see their puppet come to life and get under the camera and animate. Materials provided.
Registration includes free entry to TAIS retrospective presentation of 16mm films by animation legend Lotte Reiniger.
Lynn Dana is an animating Jill-of-all-trades who trained in classical at Sheridan College, but employed her furniture/model-build training from Ryerson to get into stop-motion. She works commercially in stop-mo (mostly television series & specials) and loves direct under-camera work (frequently with TAIS, the Toronto Animated Image Society) as well as introducing folk to low-tech animation in workshops.
