PARTNERSHIP – Consent to Enter

All Day

Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS)

TAIS Co-presentation

TAIS is pleased to provide community partnership and support to Consent to Enter

A public education campaign with leadership by Sistering, peer workers are exploring the question, “What is a world with consent?”

Sistering is a multi-service agency for at-risk, socially isolated women in Toronto who are homeless or precariously housed. The Consent to Enter campaign will mobilize the perspectives and creative work of the Sistering community through an art installation booth that instigates public audiences to consider civic dimensions of gender violence. The art installation booth will be an intimate space for tangible, visual and auditory audience interaction, highlighting the ways that gender violence plays out in personal and embodied ways in the blurred division between private and public spaces.

TAIS will support eight peer workers to create short stop-motion animations illustrating issues and problems of consent within public and private settings. The workshops will be held November 18th and 19th and be led by TAIS Member and animation artist Carolyn Tripp, Gender Violence Expert Tina Garnett, and Consent to Enter Creative Director Erin Howley.

Consent to Enter is presented with the support of the Toronto Arts Council and the OAC Creative Engagement Fund
