This 4 hour workshop focuses on the Animatic, or animated storyboard. The Animatic is what an animation filmmaker uses to lay the groundwork for their project. You will learn how to develop the correct timing and pace, check angles, expressions and set down all cuts. At the end of the workshop you will have a whole scene, all edited to time, told with the dialogue and black and white drawings.

The workshop instructor, Martha Grant, is a filmmaker and animator who specializes in replacement animation. She started as a stop motion special effects animator at Laika in Portland Oregon, on films ParaNorman, The Boxtrolls and Kubo. Most recently, she has been working freelance in Los Angeles and Toronto.
