TAIS is very happy to announce that applications are now open for the third edition of Animazing! Animation Movie Camp for LGTBQ2S Teens and Youth, in partnership with The 519. 


 

Animazing is a stop-motion animation art camp for up to eight (8) LGBTQ2S Teens and Youth, provided FREE of charge to selected applicants. Animazing is also a paid program experience – those selected will each receive $500 for their participation, and assistance with public transportation costs!

What is Animazing?

Animazing is an animation art camp for up to ten (10) LGBTQ2S Teens and Youth, provided FREE of charge to selected applicants. Animazing is a paid program experience – those selected will each receive $500 for their participation, and assistance with public transportation costs!

Who can participate?

Animazing is for individuals 13 and 23 years old, who identify as an LGBTQ2S individual.

What will participants learn?

Animazing focuses on beginner skills development in animation. Participants completed their own 1-2 minute long animated movie from start to finish, and screened it for an audience!

Who will lead the activities?

The 2018 camp will be led by two LGBTQ2S mentors – Daniel Sterlin-Altman as our Animation Mentor, and The 519’s Program Assistant Julie Hamara as the Trans Youth Mentor. TAIS Outreach Coordinator, Andrea Vela Alarcón, will assist with program  coordination and delivery.

What is the Toronto Animated Image Society?

Toronto Animated Image Society (TAIS) is a non-profit art centre dedicated to the art of animation. TAIS supports independent non-commercial animation art making, with a focus on skills development. We present animation to audiences via screenings, exhibitions, and through presentations by guest artists. We regularly partner with other groups and organizations to connect with new audiences, and to inspire artists of all ages to explore animation.
